Inició su carrera profesional en 1993 en el Hospital Jackson Memorial en Miami, Florida, en donde trabajó en investigación básica en el área de neurofisiología clínica durante 1993. En 1994 se vinculó a Coulter Corporation (actualmente Beckman Coulter Inc.) en donde desarrolló tecnologías nuevas y diseñó equipos en el área de hematología hasta 1998, cuando regresó a Colombia. En Colombia se vinculó a una importante firma de abogados y laboró en el departamento de patentes desde octubre de 1998 hasta julio de 2003, cuando inició su propia práctica. En diciembre de 2010 Ian fundó su actual firma Raisbeck & Associates.

Colombia he joined the patent department of a prestigious law firm in October 1998 and worked there up until July 2003, when he started his own practice. In December 2010 Ian founded his current firm Raisbeck & Associates.

Ian excels in counseling, prosecution and civil, criminal and administrative litigation of patents, trademarks, copyright and plant varieties, including anti-counterfeiting and contraband, unfair competition and consumer protection. He likewise has extensive experience in preparing commercial contracts of all types. Ian advises clients in a variety of industries, including pharmaceutical, software, disposable products, paper, fashion, aviation, textiles, telecommunications, entertainment, among many others.

Ian is the author of several articles and collaborative book chapters, as well as the book “Invention Patents”, published in 2020.

Ian’s main hobby is horses, participating in show jumping competitions nationally.
